What About Customer Service?

The company currently known as Sprint has allowed for it's customer service people to be rude to me for the last time.

I am so sick of calling in to these guys only to be treated like I have vindictively attempted to destroy the very livelyhoods of the precious milquetoasts that run that company by not paying my bill on time. I admit, there are times when my account is a day or two past due on accounts, but I have NEVER been grossly delinquent with this company.

I woke up to find my cell-phone shut off this morning. Strange I thought, since I had just sent them a check 6 days prior for more than the full amount owed at the time. I checked my bank account online next, and yep, there it was in black and white...the check had cleared my bank 2 days prior WITH Sprint's endorsement. Hmmm

I gave it a bit, and then realized that I had wanted to make a few calls and announce to the world that I was to be a father soon. So, I picked up the phone and dialed my best friend G-Ride and instead I got Mr. Roboto over at Sprint. He proceeded to inform me that my account had been temporarily disconnected because of failure to pay.

This was unacceptable.

After navigating through their multi-tiered menu for what seemed like forever I finally got ahold of someone who rattled off their name so fast I couldn't understand them. After exchanging a few key numbers and passwords he launched into this longwinded explanation of why my service was disconnected and then asked me "How will you be paying for this today?"

I hate pushy people and I hate even more rude pushy people that I pay thousands of dollars to every year for their less than wonderful service.

I took a deep breath. I explained to what's-his-face the situation. His response was that his screen was telling him I hadn't paid my bill. I retorted by telling him that MY screen was telling me that I HAD. He then said "I am just telling you what I see sir". I said "Me too."

And THEN, he went through his ENTIRE ROUTINE from the top! Again!

So asked Sprint Drone #58 if he preferred that I do the same.

Again, he responded that he was just telling me what his screen was showing him. I then asked if he and I were just going to sit here and go back and forth on this all day, or were we going to try and solve this situation. Then, he get's all rude with me, says something WAY to fast for me to understand and informs me that he was going to patch me through to his Supervisor, which was music to my ears because that was going to be my next request. After about 2 minutes of listening to John Tesh have sex with orphaned seals on beds of broken glass (or at least that's what it sounded like, it may have been muzak) I hear: "All of our Supervisors are currently busy, please try your call again later." And then the line went dead.

I shit you not.

So I gave it about an hour, and tried again. The next interaction was with another male whose name or national origin are completely unknown to me. His accent was so thick I could only understand about every third word from his mouth. I am not positive but I think he and I had an almost identical exchange as the previous Sprint Drone. One thing I was able to make out though while talking to him was that he had no record of my call from the morning. Again I was sent to a supervisor, but instead of transferring me, this particular Sprint Drone volunteered to have the Supervisor call me back in half an hour.

Yeah, that never happened either.

Later in the day my ire and anger grew greater. I finally called and this time I got Rhonda. I immediately asked Rhonda if I could speak to a supervisor. She basically refused, and decided that I needed to hear once again the line of shit her prior co-workers had already fed me. Once more I went through the whole process and once more the end conclusion was that I needed a supervisor. Thank you I said. This time there was no muzak or anything. She actually hung up on me!

I tried to call back immediately, and as soon as I got to the part of the menu where I had to type in my phone-number I was disconnected. I waited another hour, and THIS time, I got the menu all teh way through and ended up waiting for 23 MINUTES before being randomly disconnected.

I decided to go to the web and see if there was an e-mail option.

Nope; well not technically.

What I was able to find by creatively manipulating URLs was a form that would allow me to email what I can only assume is an autoresponce attendant. This form is designed for some type of feedack and in fact the comments section is limited to 1200 Characters (this includes spacebar action).

After an infuriating day of dealing with the shmucks, I decide to use this from to submit for some clarification and a dgital audit.

Below is a copy of the e-mail I sent Sprint -

I am INCREDIBLY dissatisfied with you! EVERYTIME I call Customer Care I get disconnected.
My phone was shut off today. I paid $250 6 days ago. I have proof from my bank; the check cleared 4 days ago.

Your CSR employees are rude. They cut me off midsentence & 3 times today I was "accidentally" dropped while waiting to speak with a Supervisor.

On 2 prior occasions my contract was extended without 1st gaining my informed consent.I have logged complaints before; I was ignored.

I have a $200 cap on my account and I make well over $60k annually; I run a multi-million $ company serving 100,000+ customers annually. I was loyal to you for 5yrs. No more!

I once BELIEVED in Sprint; you WERE a great company with ethics & morals beyond reproach. Now you are like all other money grubbing corporate robber barons. Shame on you.

I vow to encourage everyone I know not to use your service. Tomorrow, I will offer to pay for any of my employees that are your customers to switch. Isn't Sprint the standard by which others are measured? If so, your competition looks great!

I am sad & disgusted. If your Reps had been polite to me today ALL of this could have been avoided. Enjoy my $250.

You know, if you want to be taken seriously as a leader and management guru, a spelling checker run aginst your blog woudl be a nice start.

Even a reputable BS artiste would put up a better front.

Wow.

I am by no means a guru on anything; in fact, I consider myself still a student at just about everything I do. Thank you very much for the public criticism and pointing out my failures, cryp0qu33n...that is very kind of you. I suppose I should shush though and let you get back to butchering the english language.

Or is that spelled l4n9u493?

I just cannot keep up these days.

When you get a bunch of anonymous clones in an answering cell that have no first or last names and no couth, sometimes the best solution is to fudge it. Maybe tell the guy, "I don't care what your screen says, the rep I talked to exactly 43 minutes ago, said this phone would be reconnected in 10 minutes."

You can't make them smarter than they are, but sometimes you can take advantage of their stupidity.

Spelling aside, your point is on the money. I'm disgusted with Sprint too, as you can see by a rant I recently I recently let fly after one too many encounters with the company...

Wow, crypt0qu33n's a real fucking genius. As one who has profound respect for the English language and how it is presented, I feel a little bit insulted by the fact that someone like crypt0qu33n has the audacity to criticize my friend's blog presentation with what can only be her own personal armload of bullshit. Don't give yourself airs, crypt0qu33n, since you can't spell very well yourself.
